Man Wanted For Trying To Kidnap 18-Year Old Woman

FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) -- Deputies are looking for a man accused of trying to kidnap an 18-year old woman while she was waiting at a Fort Lauderdale bus stop.

Broward Sheriff's Office (BSO) Deputies said the young woman was at a Shell Gas Station bus stop located at 2701 West Sunrise Boulevard on May 1st just before 7:30 a.m. She was sitting on the bench waiting for the bus that takes her to school.

A tall man with gold teeth, wearing baggy shorts and work boots approached her at the bench and tried talking to her but the woman ignored him.

"He asked me what my name was and a whole bunch of sexual stuff," said the victim who fears for her safety. "I was sitting there and he offered me money.  I said 'no.' He tried to stuff it in my shirt.  I kept pushing him away and then he grabbed me and tried to pull me to his car".

Luckily the bus arrived and she escaped, so did her attacker.

A camera mounted on the bus captured images of the man as the woman walked towards the bus.

"I got on the bus and went to school and told me teachers," said the victim.

BSO investigators want to catch that man so they passed  flyers along Sunrise Boulevard on Thursday morning.

Deputies say they are looking for a black male in his 30's with tattoos. He also has gold teeth on the top and bottom. He was last seen wearing beige pants, a beige shirt and  hat .

Another camera,at a nearby gas station captured pictures of the man's  dark blue van. Investigators said the van could be used for work since it has ladder racks on the top.

"It's a distinctive blue van that has some sort of marking on the side. It might be the outline of a vehicle. That van may be a 1989 Dodge Ram van," said Dani Moschella of the Broward Sheriff's Office.

Sunrise Boulevard is one long line of stores but just beyond are densely populated neighborhoods.

"It's close to home and I got a kid myself so I just go to keep my eyes open even more... I think it's bad though...disgusting," said Hillary Parks who is a parent.

The victim is still shaken from the ordeal and wants the man caught so he can't victimize other young girls.
