Candidates for Florida Gov. Seeking Union Support

JACKSONVILLE (CBSMiami/AP) —  Former Governor Charlie Christ and Former State Senator Nan Rich are looking for union support this weekend in their bid to be the next Florida Governor.

The two Democratic candidates are scheduled to speak at the convention of the Florida AFL-CIO on Saturday, June 7th.

The union organization is scheduled to vote Sunday on which candidates to endorse in statewide races.

George Sheldon and State Rep. Perry Thurston are also scheduled to appear. The two men are running in the Democratic primary for attorney general.

Rich has pressed Crist to debate her but so far he has refused. There is a slight break scheduled in between the speeches of Rich and Crist.

The Florida Education Association has already endorsed Crist over incumbent Gov. Rick Scott.
