Unlicensed Contractors Charged With Fraud And Grand Theft

NORTH MIAMI BEACH (CBSMiami) – Two unlicensed contractors, after not showing up for work clients had paid for, have been charged with fraud and grand theft.

On two separate occasions, Action General Contracting of Pompano Beach Florida was hired to do home renovations at the homes of two North Miami Beach residents.

The clients made several payments in advance, according to the North Miami Beach Police Department, but after waiting a long time, and numerous phone calls to the company, the work had not been completed.

Following complaints to North Miami Beach Police, Brian Burns, 63, was charged with scheme to defraud and grand theft over $10,000. Daniel Miller, 49, was charged with one count of unlicensed contractor, scheme to defraud, and grand theft.

A third victim, police say, was located in Hollywood involving the same corporation.

The North Miami Beach Police Department is asking that if anyone else had contracted with Action General Contracting of Pompano Beach prior to May of this year, where payments were made in advance and work was not completed, to contact them.
