Family Of 20-Year-Old Killed In Overtown Looking For Answers

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The mother of a 20-year-old killed last month is looking for answers, pleading for her son's killer to come forward.

"He was just going to the store to go get junk food him and his friends," Chineaka Clack, Travon Adams mother said.

Miami police say 20-year-old Adams and two others were gunned down last month at Northwest 13th street and 1st place in Overtown.

According to investigators, the shooters sprayed bullets down the block and were gone in seconds.

Adams was hit in the torso and died. His friends survived.

"Travon, he was a loving person he liked to have fun, he joked, he liked to play and he had a baby on the way and basically he just loved life," his mother said.

About to become a father and with plans to start a new job, the young man's life was cut short. Now his family wants justice.

"Please help me to help my family," said Clark.

Police say they still don't know if Adams was targeted or just caught in the crossfire. They say whoever is responsible has a reckless disregard for life and needs to be caught.

"The individuals responsible opened up on a crowded corner firing numerous shots. Pretty much anyone that was out there could have been a victim whether intended or not and those are the type of individuals we need to get off the streets," said Sargent Julio Pino with Miami Police Department.

"I would love for someone to call if they know anything, seen anything, heard anything, to give out what they know," said Clark. Clark and her family say catching the killer will help them find closure.

Anyone with any information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
