Man Allegedly Beat Stepson For Not Doing Homework

MIAMI (CBSMiami) --  A man is behind bars, accused of beating his 10-year-old stepson  for not doing his homework.

Glenn Thor Larsen , 36, a Miami Beach resident, is charged with aggravated child abuse with great bodily injury and torture, and resisting arrest without violence.

An arrest affidavit says it all started when the 200-pound Larsen picked up his stepson at an after day care on Wednesday, May 28th and asked the youngster if he had finished his homework.

At Larsen's bond court hearing on Friday, May 30th Miami Beach Police Detective Juan Sanchez spoke about the incident.

"He did not complete his homework. The defendant turned around and said well now you're going to pay. He pulled the car over and began to hit him with closed fist and open hands on his face and torso, after which they went back to the apartment. Again, he tried to pull the kid out of the car. The kid pulled away from him because he was scared, started hitting him again with closed fist and open hand and this time bit him through the clothing. Two hours later there was significant swelling a bruising starting to begin, starting to show," said Detective Sanchez.

The arrest affidavit said the youngster was initially struck at least five times.

Sanchez also said, "I'm primarily concerned that he have no contact with the mother and the child," said Sanchez. "The same incident occurred several years ago. I also don't want him going anywhere near the school as well."

There was also testimony that there was a prior injunction against Larsen from 2011 but that had expired.

Police say Larsen admitted to biting and spanking the child. He also allegedly told police he was wrong and he had problems with anger management.

He is being held on $21, 000 bond. He was ordered to stay away from the child and his mother who told CBS4's Peter D'Oench, he did not want to comment.

There was also testimony in court that if Larsen was able to post bond, he would live with his mother in Southwest Miami-Dade.

The arrest affidavit said Larsen is employed as a sound technician and his alias or street name is "Roach."

Larsen uttered just three words in court: "Yes your honor."

Larsen is also a long-time employee of Churchill's Pub in Miami.
