Detectives said he had just returned home with his girlfriend who was walking to their front door when two assailants came up to his window and began firing. One other man was driving a getaway car.

"From what we know, the subject vehicle is a gold Toyota Camry and it was occupied by a driver at the time they fled," said Detective Elena Hernandez of the Miami-Dade Police Department.

Miami-Dade police said family of the Baptiste drove him to Aventura Hospital. From there he was transferred to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood.

Baptiste is listed in stable condition and is expected to survive, according to police.

Police have not released a description of the three men they are looking for and what may have led to the shooting.

"We don't know if he was being chased. Detectives still have to speak to the victim," said Hernandez.
