Man Injured After Someone Shot Up His Home

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - A northwest Miami-Dade man was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound after someone riddled his residence with bullets early Thursday morning.

The gunfire erupted just after 2:00 a.m. on Northwest 2nd Avenue and 82nd Terrace.

Delisson Orvil was grazed in the stomach by a bullet and cut by broken glass.

Orvil said his family was sleeping when more than a dozen bullets came flying at their home, puncturing walls and shattering windows.

"I hear boom, boom," said Orvil.

"Like bombs, boom, boom, boom, like 20 big bombs," said neighbor Shadon Jackson.

"I just heard all this gunfire like boom, boom, boom like beruit and this is a residential neighborhood, this isn't the projects," said Yvette Lewis.

Neighbors said they heard a car speeding off after the gunfire.

Orvil's wife, mother and two children ages 7 and 12 were not injured.

"I thinking my wife get shot, I thinking my children get shot thank go nobody get shot" said Orvil. "The five us could get dead for nothing. I was very, very, very lucky."

Orvil's neighbors said it was frightening that someone would open fire on a home with children inside.

"That's a person with no type of conscience because if you shoot in a house you gotta know there's some children in there, so how could you do that? That's crazy," said Lewis.

"It's sad to know that people have hearts like that and don't care," said Jackson. "You just don't take innocent lives or hurt anyone innocent."

Investigators are still looking for the gunman and working to figure out a motive.

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
