New Weight Restrictions For Venetian Causeway Bridges

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Effective immediately, Miami-Dade County officials have lowered the amount of weight that can cross the Venetian Causeway bridges.

After a recent load ratings analysis, the weight limits were taken down from 15 tons to 11 tons on all bridges except the West Venetian Bascule Bridge.

The weight limit on the West Venetian Bascule Bridge has been lowered to 5 tons until intermediate repairs are implemented.

As a result of the weight restrictions, Miami-Dade Transit bus Route A, which travels on the Venetian Causeway, has been temporarily suspended until further notice.

Bus stops for bus Route South Beach Local (123) in Belle Isle will be temporarily relocated, until further notice, to the east entrance of the Venetian Causeway, near Purdy Avenue and Dade Boulevard.
The schedule for Route 123 will remain the same.

Anyone traveling by bus between Miami Beach and the City of Miami are encouraged to use the following routes that service Miami Beach and downtown Miami:

- Route S (119)
- Beach MAX (120)
- C (103)
- M (113)
