Miami-Dade Pet Adoptions Successful With Help From Miami Heat

MIAMI (CBSMiami) –Miami-Dade County's Animal Services Department took a new approach to getting pets adopted this week.

The agency partnered with the Miami Heat for a live adoption telethon on television.

Animal lover and former Heat player Alonzo Mourning took to the airwaves to help with the telethon during the Miami Heat's game against the Milwaukee Bucks.

During the telethon, Animal Services reports eight dogs and cats found forever homes.

"Part of our efforts to save the lives of our shelter pets is participating in community adoption events, as well as partnering with organizations like the Miami HEAT" said Alex Munoz, Director of Miami-Dade County Animal Services in a press release.

"The telethon was a great way to interact directly with Miami-Dade County residents and encourage them to join our transition into a No Kill community together."
