Arrest Made In SW Dade Gas Station Carjacking

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A man wanted for carjacking a woman at a gas station and then robbing her has been taken into custody.

On March 7th, a woman was sitting in her car at a Shell gas station in Southwest Miami-Dade when a man opened up her passenger door and got inside. The man, later identified as 28-year old Roberto Perez-Capdevila, placed his right hand on Cairo's thigh and said "just drive," according to his arrest affidavit.

Perez-Capdevila had his hand wrapped in a paper bag and pointed it at the woman implying he had a gun, according to police.

As the woman drove, Perez-Capdevila fondled her breasts and genitals over her clothes and stated "Oh baby, you're so hot, I want to have sex with you," according to the report

When they reached the area of SW 40th Street and SW 72nd Avenue, Perez-Capdevila reportedly demanded the woman money when they stopped at a traffic light. The woman tossed her wallet at him and then jumped out of the car and ran for help.

Perez-Capdevilla then ran off with the victim's purse and wallet which contained about $9 and her credit cards.

Surveillance footage from the Shell station depicts a white male matching Perez-Capdevila's description making a purchase inside the gas station with the woman's credit card.

Investigators were able to identify Perez-Capdevila from the video and arrested. He's been charged with armed carjacking, armed kidnapping, armed burglary and simple battery.
