Fallen Officers Ride Begins In Ft. Lauderdale

FT. LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – Law Enforcement officers from around the state began the 9463 Florida's Fallen Officers' State Ride Saturday morning.

The kick-off for the event began on W. Broward Boulevard at the BSO Public Safety Building.

Sheriff Scott Israel was at the event held in memory of fallen law enforcement officers from every corner of the state.

The State Ride is a weeklong motorcycle tour that visits every Florida law enforcement agency that lost an officer in the line of duty during the previous year.

9463 was BSO Sergeant Chris Reyka's badge number.

He was killed while looking for stolen cars outside a Pompano Beach Walgreens on August 10th 2007.
