CORAL GABLES (CBSMiami/AP) — It’s not clear why Miami offensive lineman Hunter Knighton was in the hospital, but the positive news is that he is no longer admitted.

The circumstances behind Knighton’s health issue remain a mystery, with school officials saying only that the player’s family has asked for privacy. Knighton was hospitalized a few days before spring practice began on March 1.

Knighton released a statement on Monday thanking everyone who had been praying for him over the last few weeks. He also thanked the “best family, coaches, doctors and support group for getting me this far.”

Knighton, a native of Pottstown, Pa., signed with Miami in February 2013. He redshirted last season for the Hurricanes, who went 9-4.
