DORAL (CBSMiami) – Outspoken businessman Donald Trump was in Doral Wednesday morning trying to drum up more support for the annual Cadillac Championship set to start Thursday at the famed Blue Monster course.

The overall success for Trump, who now owns the course and club, rests not on his money, but on the injured back of Tiger Woods. Tiger was playing poorly and withdrew last Sunday from the Honda Classic.

Luckily for Trump, CBS4 confirmed Tuesday that Tiger will be playing the tournament.

Woods won the Cadillac Championship last year and needs a top finish soon to get rolling ahead of the Masters in early April.

Tiger has won at Doral multiple times and knows the lengthy Blue Monster course well, but it has changed a little as Trump redesigned the facility after he bought it. The changes could help level the playing field for other golfers who want to challenge Tiger this weekend.

ESPN.com’s experts have labeled Jordan Spieth as a player to watch this weekend. Last year’s PGA Tour Rookie of the Year will be teeing it up for the first time at Doral, but that could be an advantage with all of the changes going on at the course.

Rory McIlroy could also make a charge this weekend as the 24-year-old is still one of the most talented players in the world. McIlroy has struggled recently, but finished in the top eight at Doral last year and a win would go a long way to quiet the critics.

In addition to all of the golf, Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka will bring a bit of fashion to the course when she hosts a Carolina Herrera fashion show at the Trump National on Saturday night.

Thanks to the addition of Trump’s name and now the confirmation Tiger will be there, the event is expected to draw in tens of thousands of golf fans through the finals on Sunday.
