SUNRISE (CBSMiami) – Based on their history, goalie Tim Thomas and goalie Roberto Luongo seemed like an odd combination. Less than 24 hours later, the combination is no more.

The Florida Panthers traded Thomas to the Dallas Stars, according to The Sports Network’s Bob McKenzie. According to CBS4 news partner the Miami Herald, goalie Dan Ellis will be sent to Florida in exchange for Thomas.

With Thomas out of the picture, Ellis will likely become Luongo’s backup. That will send Scott Clemmensen down to San Antonio.
