One Person Killed After Bus & Cars Collide

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - A party bus carrying at least five people on a Friday night excursion in Miami had an accident, rolled over, landed on its' side and a young woman was thrown from the vehicle.

"We understand that five people in the vehicle were tossed around and unfortunately, one 22-year-old female, was ejected from the vehicle," said Lt. Ignatius Carroll, of the Miami Fire Department.

The victim's name has not been released by the Florida Highway Patrol but Carroll said the victim was unresponsive when paramedics found her, gave her CPR and rushed her to the hospital.

CBS 4 cameras captured FHP troopers speaking to possible witnesses. We also saw a young woman being helped away from the crash scene. Investigators say there were several vehicles involved but no word on what led to the deadly accident. We are told that the driver of the van was not hurt and did make efforts to assist those inside the bus.

"The driver was trying to break a window to get everybody out," Carroll said. "There were numerous Good Samaritans (who) pulled up and was providing assistance as well and that's when they realized they were missing one more person."

Investigators say two other women from the bus were taken to Ryder Trauma Center with minor injuries. The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
