POMPANO BEACH (CBSMiami) – A pedestrian standing outside of a disabled vehicle was hit early Saturday morning. That person died according to officials at the scene.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, two pedestrians were outside of the vehicle and another person was inside of it near Interstate 95 and West Copans Road when one of the pedestrians was hit just after 6:00 a.m.

The other pedestrian was not struck.  The person still inside of the disabled vehicle was transported to a hospital for treatment.

The northbound exit lane was blocked while rescuers assisted the crash victims.

Officials said the driver that struck the pedestrian remained at the scene.
