Miami City Manager To Resign

MIAMI (CBSMiami/Herald) - Miami City Manager Johnny Martinez will resign his position the first week of March.

Martinez suffered a stroke last summer, but returned to his job a few months ago. Martinez told Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado he needed to slow down and move back to the private sector.

Martinez had previously worked as an executive in Miami-Dade County and for the Florida Department of Transportation. He was hired in 2011 as Mayor Regalado was involved in an ongoing incident to get rid of the city's police chief.

No successor to Martinez has been named, according to the Herald.
