Cops Give Justin Bieber Lawless Escort

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Call it Biebergate.  Opa-Locka police are investigating an escort given to pop star Justin Bieber Monday night by two of the department's marked squad cars.

The celebrity news outlet TMZ broke the story, posting a video that purports to show the police units leaving the Opa-Locka airport with Bieber's caravan of two large SUVs in tow.

Opa-locka Assistant City Manager David Chiverton confirmed the questionable escort to CBS4's Gary Nelson.

"This escort that was done for Justin Bieber was unauthorized. We have spoken to our police administration and they are investigating the matter," Chiverton said.

Bieber had just arrived on his private jet and was met by the waiting Opa-Locka officers.

The city can't say with certainty where police escorted the not-so-boy performer, but he was seen at Club Mansion on South Beach and later at the King of Diamonds adult nightclub in Northwest Miami Dade.

The strip joint's manager, Disco Rick, told WINZ radio that the 19-year-old Bieber was at the club, but was served no alcohol, and stayed in a VIP room.

The manager said Bieber stuffed wads of $100 bills into the hands of numerous unclothed coquettes.

Opa-Locka police are conducting an investigation to determine how many officers played a role in the "unauthorized" police escort.

"We know that at least two have been involved in it, and we're getting to the bottom of who else, and how this whole process came to be," Chiverton said.

Chiverton could not say whether the two officers who provided the escort have given statements to investigators, due to the probe being on-going.

The city has not released the names of any of the officers involved.

The obvious question is who arranged the escort and how?  Another question being asked:  Did any money change hands?
