Street Closures For Martin Luther King Jr. Parade Monday

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a parade is being held through the streets of Miami on Monday. If you plan on driving, you may want to know what to avoid and what streets will be closed.

The parade, which will travel along Northwest 54 Street from 12th Avenue to 19th Avenue, will  start at 11:00 a.m.  and finish at 2:00 p.m.

The parade will travel west on 54th Street starting at NW 12th Avenue and ending on NW 32nd Avenue.

Street closures will start promptly at 9:00 a.m.  Starting on NW 7th Avenue to 19th Avenue the route will go west on 54th Street. The staging set up area is from 7th – 12th Avenue on NW 54th Street.  The staging area overflow will also use 7th – 12th Avenue extended from 53rd to 55th Street.

Miami-Dade transit buses that normally travel along NW 54th Street will be re-routed.

Residents that live in the area will be allowed access. For drivers, the adjacent streets south and north of 54th Street (53rd and 55th Street) will be open.

Motorists are encouraged to take alternate routes, if they need to travel in the vicinity.  City of Miami Police Officers will be placed along the closure to provide assistance.

Streets will re-open at approximately 5:00 pm.
