MARATHON (CBSMiami) – A major fire early Saturday morning destroyed a favorite restaurant in Marathon.

The fire burned through Salty’s Waterfront Grill and two boats at Seven Mile Marina around 3 a.m.

Traffic in both directions was stopped during the fire.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office reports four stations responded and seven fire trucks worked to get the fire under control.

It took more than an hour to control the fire and prevent embers from damaging other structures in the area of 11th Street, according to officials.

A car in the parking lot of the restaurant also burned.

County and State fire marshals will be investigating the cause of the fire.
