Dolphins Spend 2 Days On Interview With Lions Executive

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Until Wednesday, the Miami Dolphins haven't tipped their hand on who they may hire as the new general manager. But that may have changed with the interview of Detroit Lions senior personnel executive Brian Xanders.

According to ProFootballTalk.com, Xanders interviewed with the Dolphins for two days. The speculation is that's the longest general manager interview the Fins have carried out thus far in the search.

PFT.com said it's unknown how many interviews the Dolphins will conduct in the first part of the search and if a second round of interviews will be conducted. So far the Dolphins have interviewed six executives for the general manager position, including Xanders.

While Xanders' last job was with the Detroit Lions, he was the general manager of the Denver Broncos from 2009-2012 and on the 2013 roster, 18 of 25 starters were from the draft classes from 2008-2012.

Among Xanders' top picks are: linebacker Von Miller, wide receivers Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker, running back Knowshon Moreno, tackle Orlando Franklin, tight end Julius Thomas, defensive back Perrish Cox, center J.D. Walton, guard Zane Beadle, defensive tackle Derek Wolfe, and quarterback Brock Osweiler.
