Dash Cam Captures Three-Car Crash On I-75 Near Dead Panther

NAPLES (CBSMiami) – A Collier County deputy, responding to a man that hit and killed a panther with his car, captured a three-car accident on his dash cam.

The video was released by the Collier County Sheriff's Office Friday and obtained exclusively by Naples Daily News.

The panther, which according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation was the first panther death reported in the New Year, was first said to have been killed as a result of the three-car crash.

But on dash cam video, the multi-vehicle accident actually occurred after the endangered panther had already been struck and killed.

The panther, according to Naples News Daily, was killed around 12:30 am on January 2 near mile marker 111.

The driver who hit the panther stopped his pickup on the side of the road and shined his lights.

The accident is captured on video occurring in the shoulder of the left lane.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, minor injuries were reported after the crash.
