Pawn Shop Burglary Suspects May Be Part Of Larger Ring
FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – A pair of burglary suspects, who have a criminal past, are accused of stealing several loaded weapons from an Oakland Park pawn shop.
On Saturday, Dec. 28th, surveillance cameras inside and outside the Crown Pawn shop at 4960 N Dixie Highway captured the break in.
On the video two men get out of a Dodge Grand Caravan, which had its license plate covered by a hanging piece of cloth, and pry open the store's door.
Once inside, they smashed the glass cases and walked away with a loaded AK-47 assault rifle and a loaded .40-caliber handgun, as well as other items.
A silent alarm alerted the Broward Sheriff's Office to the break in and deputies arrived just in time to see the van speed away from the business.
The van drove into a residential neighborhood, hit a parked car, and the two men bailed out and ran. Sheriff's deputies, SWAT deputies, K-9s and a BSO helicopter set up a perimeter to search.
A deputy ran down one of the men, identified as 34-year-old Alphurs Symonette of Miami, and a K-9 later tracked down the second man, 35-year-old Enrique Quintero of Opa-locka.
Detectives found several stolen items, including both guns, and burglary tools in the van.
The sheriff's office believes Symonette and Quintero have been involved in a number of similar pawn shop armed burglaries and are a part of a criminal ring active in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.
