Police: Brother & Sister Dead In Suspected Domestic Dispute

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The damage to a house in southwest Miami-Dade is a good indicator of just how chaotic a violent domestic dispute was on Sunday.

Miami-Dade Police have the victim's estranged husband in custody. They still aren't saying what set off this deadly rampage.

Ivan Wong was handcuffed and arrested outside his home shortly after police said he shot three people and ran over another.

His estranged wife Mabel Figueroa and her brother, Michel, were killed.

"This is a good, quiet neighborhood," Sandra Torres said. "I was in panic about my family because we live there."

Security cameras captured a white pick-up truck police said Wong was driving when he peeled off in reverse, crashing through a fence and hitting his father in law in the process.

Modesto Figueroa was taken to the hospital.

"I go outside and I saw the white truck coming back and forth and people screaming," witness Carlos Carbonella said. "I can see from here a body, two bodies on the floor."

While police aren't saying what may have set Wong off, relatives told CBS4 the couple was recently having problems.

Torres said, "I feel really bad about the family, this family, because it's good people everybody around here is nice people."

A relative at the where Wong was arrested who identified herself as Gladys told CBS4's Lauren Pastrana the suspect's family is in mourning, too.

"We have a lot of pain over what's happening," Gladys said. "We loved her (Mabel) very much."

Detectives said a family friend was at the scene Sunday.

Ernesto Cardenas, 42, was shot and taken to Kendall Regional Medical Center.

Throughout the day tearful relatives went to the house where it all went down near SW 160th Street and 103rd Place.

"I was shocked because you just don't expect somebody to gain entrance into a house, smashing in and then shooting two people or four," Susan Roos Freedman explained.

Holidays are prime time for domestic violence.  There is usually a surge in incidents around this time of year.   Wong is looking at a handful of serious charges including two counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder.

"We are crying because of the same pain the other family is experiencing," Gladys said. "Because we are one family."
