Police Release Sketch In Hollywood Sex Assault Investigation

HOLLYWOOD (CBSMiami) – Hollywood police have released a sketch of a man who reportedly sexually assaulted a 17-year old girl.

The girl was walking at 24th Avenue and Jackson Street around 9:44 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 20th when a man approached her, according to police.

The man reportedly forced her to get inside his older, dirty light gray or gold minivan. He then drove to an area near the 2700th block of Pierce Street where he sexually assaulted her and then drove off.

Neighbors in the area where the assault happened are concerned.

"Just stunned. You just freeze for a moment and think about it. It's just unexpected," said Adron Leon when he heard about what had happened.

"That's what's strange about it," added Rex Roper, "Somebody knows the neighborhood. They know what's where."

"Nobody heard anything. That's what's really surprising. Thank goodness she got away," said Rex Roper who recently installed a security camera.

Police described the teen's attacker as being about 20 years old, six feet tall and heavyset. He had a short beard, dreads down to his back and was wearing a diamond earring in his right ear.

Rattled residents are pleased police are being proactive about the case and informing them about whats going on.

Resident Cory Oswald said, "I appreciate that. Actually I like that very much. You know the police are patrolling the area trying to do what they can out here."

If anyone has any extra information or may have seen the minivan, contact Hollywood Police Department at (954) 967-HELP or contact Broward County Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS.
