Major Retailers Offer Mega Extended Hours For Holiday Shopping

WAYNE, N.J., (CBSMiami) –Big name retailers are offering up a holiday gift of their own. While last-minute shoppers are hitting the stores, their offering mega extended hours this holiday season.

Toys 'R' Us and other big box retailers are working overtime to make sure your loved ones get the presents they want for Christmas.The toy company has announced that its stores nationwide will remain open for 87 consecutive hours for last minute-Christmas shopping.

CBS4's Jamie Guirola spoke to shoppers happy about the extended hours.

Bethsa Villarreal said, "Giving everybody more time to shop because everybody is working a lot right now so that's good."

"That's pretty neat. Yeah that's wonderful," said Madyuri Velasca, a shopper at Dolphin Mall. "We all have crazy schedules and we really can't between work and school so that's excellent."

Stores will stay open starting 6 a.m. on Saturday, December 21 and continuing through 9 p.m. Christmas Eve.

"With only eight shopping days remaining until Christmas, we are offering customers extended, uninterrupted time in stores, providing them the opportunity to shop whenever is most convenient for them – whether early in the morning or late at night," said Troy Rice, Executive Vice President, Stores and Services, Toys"R"Us, Inc.

The store is offering additional discounts during the final days before Christmas and daily deliveries to make sure hot items are in stock.

Last year, Toys 'R' Us kept most stores open for 88 hours in a row.

Other stores are also following suit.

Kohl's said it will keep its doors open for more than 100 straight hours for the first time. Shoppers can pick through the shelves from 6 a.m. Dec. 20 through 6 p.m. Christmas Eve.

Kmart stores will be open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Christmas Eve – six more hours than last year.

Sears stores will welcome shoppers on Christmas Eve from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., one hour less than last year.

Target will be open from 7 a.m. to either 9 p.m. or 10 p.m. Dec. 24, depending on the location.
