Gun Buyback Operation Being Held In Miami Saturday

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – In its continuing effort to reduce gun violence, the City of Miami Police Department is holding a gun buyback operation on Saturday but you won't walk away empty-handed.

Anyone can drop off any firearm at the Jordan Grove Baptist Church, at 5946 NW 12th Avenue, from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Those who drop off a gun will receive a gift certificate with no questions asked.

"It is necessary to try to remove as many illegal, unwanted, and unattended guns as possible from our streets to ensure our citizens' safety," stated Mayor Regalado and added,"We hope that the Holiday Gun Buy Back will be as successful as our previous gun buy backs."

Three gun buyback operations held in 2012 yielded more than 200 guns including 2 AK-47s and an M-14.
