Sunrise Holds Candlelight Vigil In Memory Of Sandy Hook Victims
SUNRISE (CBSMiami) -- The City of Sunrise held a vigil Friday in observance of the one -year anniversary of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre.
The shooting at the school in Newtown Connecticut left 20 students and six staff members dead.
Members of the community gathered at the Sunrise Civic Center Amphitheater for the candlelight vigil.
A moment of silence was also held in memory of the children and educators who were killed in the massacre.
The names of the victims were read while large angels were illuminated in honor of each of the victims.
The lighted angels will be placed in an arc along the lake in front of Sunrise City Hall.
