Police Search For Missing 4-Year-Old Girl In Little Haiti

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- City of Miami Police are searching for a 4-year-old girl who was last seen playing  with her neighbors outside a home in Little Haiti.

According to police,  Shaniya Wendy Jacques-Louis was last seen at around 4:00 p.m. Friday  at  36 NE 64th Terrace.

She was wearing a blue and black shirt, purple shorts, purple shoes, knee-high black socks and has braids with blue bows in her hair.

Police said she was playing with neighbors who later went inside while she stayed outside. When they returned, she was gone, according to the neighbors.

All that remained in the yard was the tricycle she had been riding.

Jacques' parents said she is very quiet and does not have a tendency of wandering off. They also said she usually knows not to leave the yard.

"The family is still a little anxious, which is to be expected. Our department, the units that are out here, are keeping hopeful that we do find the missing female," Miami Police Officer Frederica Burden said.

The girl's parents were taken to the police department to speak with investigators.

They don't know of any family, friends or acquaintances who may have taken her.

Officers searched vacant lots and abandoned homes.

A bloodhound tried to pick up her scent and a chopper with heat sensing technology was launched.

Anyone with information as to the girl's whereabouts should call Miami Police at 305-579-6630.
