Keys Man Upset By Kiss Ends Up In Jail

STOCK ISLAND (CBSMiami) - An altercation involving a box cutter at an outreach mission facility sent three people to the hospital Friday night—and one of the men ended up in jail.

Deputies Spencer Curry and Aaron Coller responded to the Star of the Sea Outreach Mission on Stock Island in the Keys on Maloney Avenue at 10:40 pm to reports of a stabbing. Upon arrival authorities found a man and woman covered in blood sitting on a bench in the back of the property.

The woman, according to police, had been cut on the arm and the man had several wounds including one to his upper chest.

According to the man and woman, they had been at the woman's living quarters on the property, drinking and watching movies with another man, 53-year-old Andrew Sullivan. Sullivan, upset that the man and woman had kissed, pulled out a box cutter and stabbed the man. The woman was cut when she tried to intervene.

Sullivan, according to police, fled the area.

Police found Sullivan hiding behind a shed on the property. He complained of a pain in the neck when taken into custody so all three were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Sullivan was subsequently charged with aggravated battery and booked into jail.
