Booker T. Washington Claims 4A State Title

ORLANDO (AP) — Treon Harris threw two touchdowns passes to lead Miami Booker T. Washington to a 40-21 victory over Jacksonville Bolles in the Florida Class 4A state championship final Saturday night.

Booker T. Washington (14-0), ranked No. 1 in several national polls, won its second-straight state championship.

Harris, who is committed to Florida State, was 15-of-27 for 226 yards and added 86 rushing yards with a touchdown.

The Tornadoes scored 21 points in a second quarter to take control of Saturday's contest. Mark Walton capped off an 85-yard drive with an eight-yard rushing touchdown to give Booker T. Washington a 14-6 lead. Harris added a 31-yard touchdown pass to Terrawn McPhee and a 35-yard strike to Deltron Hopkins to give the Tornadoes a 28-6 lead at halftime.

Christian Bermudez rushed for 132 yards and a touchdown for Bolles (10-4), while Dexter Carter Jr. added 95 yards on 13 carries and a score.

Walton had 124 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries and Hopkins added six catches for 107 yards.
