Venetian Causeway Delays Expected Thursday

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Venetian Causeway issues will make getting to Miami Beach for Art Basel more of a headache than normal.

Mariners and motorists who use the Venetian Causeway's two bascule bridges may experience minor delays on Thursday, December 5, 2013.

Because of demolition work on the old Miami Herald building along Biscayne Bay, there will be no power to the grid that services the East and West Venetian Causeway bridges.

The bridges will need to operate on generator power that day from 8 a.m. until approximately 4 p.m.

The use of generator power to open and close the bridges may result in a slight delay.

Mariners and motorists who rely on the bridges should bring along their patience during this temporary situation.
