Stewart, the three-time Sprint Cup champion, took 69 percent of the vote in the final round to defeat Jeff Gordon. During the five-week contest conducted on Facebook, Stewart dominated each round of the competition. He won nearly one-fifth of the more than 700,000 votes.

Even though Stewart missed the final months of the season after he broke his right leg in an Aug. 5 sprint car crash, his fans still supported the injured driver.
