Hialeah Mother Stabbed To Death

HIALEAH (CBSMiami) – The victim is from Cuba and has been in the United States for about a year.  What an awful day for her two children who saw her attacked Monday morning.

Susell Lopez, a relative, told CBS4's Jamie Guirola, "I didn't think that all of this would come to this..my aunt's death…very sad."

Lopez's aunt, 30-year old Yulia Torres was the victim of a vicious and deadly stabbing allegedly at the hands of her husband. Police haven't released their identities but neighbors say they watched the couple get rushed off in ambulances after a violent domestic dispute.

"My dog started barking. He went to the door and started scratching it. I heard this bang. And this broke and everybody went inside and called the police. She was screaming," said neighbor Daineys Rodriguez.

She wasn't the only one who heard the screaming from apartment 4.  Other neighbors say they could also hear the fighting between Yulia and her husband.  Relatives say the couple has a history of problems and on Thursday night things boiled over.

"My uncle had a problem with his wife, that he tried to speak but he just came inside and...," said Lopez.

The suspect, Hialeah police say stabbed Torres in front of their two young daughters while they were getting ready for school was seen rushed on a stretcher into Jackson Memorial Hospital.

"I think he should be put in jail for like the rest of his life because he did that in front of the girls, he shouldn't have done that," said Rodriguez.

The suspect's niece said she's in disbelief.

Lopez said,   "Surprising. Everything was very surprising. It was very sudden."

The suspect's parents live just a few apartments down.  They are not saying anything... Torres' little girls are with the Department of Children and Families.  They'll also talk with a forensic psychiatrist.
