Relative Accidentally Backs Car Over Toddler In Boynton Beach

BOYNTON BEACH (CBSMiami) — A 14-month old is in critical condition after a family member accidentally backed over him with his car Saturday morning at a home  in Boynton Beach, according to police.

Boynton Beach Police spokeswoman Stephanie Slater said a 24-year-old family member was backing out of the driveway at 181 N. Atlantic Drive when the car hit the child.

A 5-year old playing with the child at the time of the accident rushed over and pulled him from underneath the car, according to Slater.

The family member drove the boy to Bethesda Hospital, but his injuries were so severe that he was transferred to Delray Trauma Center.

According to police , charges are pending  the outcome of the investigation.
