Miami-Dade Firefighters Collect "Toys For Kids"

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Miami-Dade County Firefighters are organizing "Toys For Kids" and collecting toys for children in need this holiday season.

They will collecting gifts until December 21st.If you're feeling quite giving this season, you can stop by any  Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Station and drop off a new, unwrapped toy or toys.

"As firefighters we are out in the community every day. We are on the front lines and we see first-hand the needs of the community. We just want to do our part to make sure every child in our community has a merry Christmas," said  Karen Joseph, a Miami-Dade firefighter, who has organized the event for the past 16 years.

The toys collected will be distributed to Miami-Dade families through churches, women's shelters and a variety of organizations throughout the county.
