Fins Fans Speak Out About Sunday's Win & Dolphins Drama

MIAMI GARDENS (CBSMiami) -- What a night!  A win is what "Dolfans" wanted and it's exactly what they needed. It's been one wave of embarrassment after another for the Dolphins.  Now fans hope the team can turn things around and end the season strong.

With turmoil and controversy at the top of mind this is how the Dolphins game started: With a message in the sky.  The two hour air billboard said in short—"Fire Dolphins General Manager Jeff Ireland."

Roger Paul, who orchestrated the flying billboard, said, "Myself and a lot of other fans, we feel pretty frustrated about what's going on so we feel like a change is in order and it's nice to get a win today."

That's exactly how the Dolphins ended Sunday night. Victory washed ashore at Sun Life Stadium after a sea of trouble plagued the team for weeks.

"Much needed win to lift the spirits of the Miami Dolphins locker room. To lift the spirits of the team to finish off the season strong," said Dolphins fan Miles Forman.

The win against the San Diego Chargers is like a reprieve for a team that desperately needed the attention focused on its game and not in the locker room.

"They showed their spine. They showed they weren't gonna take it anymore," said fan Richard Abraham. "They gave it to them as good as they could."

Obviously missing from the roster, Richie Incognito and Jonathan Martin.  Both were out of the game amid claims by Martin that Incognito bullied and harassed him.

Martin was seen on the sidelines Saturday night when Stanford played against U.S.C while Incognito was last seen when he arrived at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport after a trip to L.A.

"I think the team's gonna have to work past the drama one way or the other whether or not Martin's back or Richie comes back or both of them come back," said Foreman.

The slim victory was a nail biter for hardcore, loyal "fin-atics" like 84-year old Patty Fox.
CBS4's Jamie Guirola asked Fox, "You almost had a heart attack?"

She replied, "I always have a heart attack at these things when they're that close. Oh my God."

Fox said she's supported the Dolphins since the team was created and was glad she could talk about anything other than the team's turmoil.

"I'm excited every game. I don't care win or lose. I had to take my teeth out for Christ's sakes," said Fox.

As much as fans would rather talk about tonight's win the reality is there's much more ahead regarding Incognito and Martin.

This week Incognito will meet with an arbitrator. He filed a grievance trying to get his indefinite suspension overturned.
