FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – With a little more than a week until the Thanksgiving holiday season, airports around the country are preparing for the annual onslaught of travelers.

Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport said Friday it expected 528,000 passengers to go through FLL during the Thanksgiving holiday week, which will run from November 24 through December 1.

The Broward County Aviation Department anticipates an average of 66,000 passengers a day during those days. Aviation officials expect the busiest travel days to be Nov. 30 and Dec. 1.

The airport statement also said that available airline seats are down two percent compared to the same period last year.
