Miami Police: Help Identify A Vicious Robber

MIAMI(CBSMiami) - Miami Police have asked for the public's help identifying a vicious robber who thrashed a veteran convenience store clerk with a metal pipe and fled with a cash register.

Thursday police released two photographs taken from the store's surveillance camera. They describe him as a Hispanic male, 40-50 years old, 200-250 lbs. with a tattoo on his right shoulder.

The person is wanted in reference to several incidents of Armed Commercial Robbery throughout the City of Miami.

Around 10:00a.m. Tuesday, police said the robber entered the Valero Food Mart at 78th St. and Biscayne Boulevard and struck the clerk as many as 25 times with the pipe, even as the clerk fought back.

Miami Police spokeswoman, Officer Frederica Burden said the suspect took off from the scene in a stolen, 1998 red Jeep Cherokee with a Florida license tag of 371-WVX.

Anyone who can help is urged to call Miami Police or Miami-Dade Crimestoppers at (305) 471-tips (8477).
