Living Large In Luxurious & Historic Miami Beach Waterfront Villa

MIAMI BEACH (CBSMiami) – Living large in South Florida is easy to do if you can find the right home. CBS4's Lisa Petrillo found paradise at a waterfront mansion on Miami Beach's Allison Island.

Realtor Nelson Gonzalez gave Lisa a private tour of Villa Elena.

"It really has a great resort feel here," described Petrillo.

"It's very private from your neighbors and you're on a big lot," said Gonzalez. "You have beautiful, mature Banyan trees in the front, it's really special."

The 6,500 square foot home with 6 bedrooms, 6 baths and a separate guesthouse has 135 feet of water frontage with an oversized pool and Jacuzzi backing up to the bay.

"There's about a 50-foot pool, so you can do your laps in there and then go up on your boat and have a great time on the water," explained Nelson.

In addition, you can take a swing at improving your golf score.

In the courtyard is a Jack Nicklaus designed exclusive putting green with 7 holes, including a pitching area and a sand trap.

Villa Elena was designed by world renowned architect Maurice Fatio.

"It was designed in 1936.  He did some of the most significant houses on the beach. He also did Indian Creek Country Club and The Vanderbilt Mansion on Fisher Island," Gonzalez pointed out.

The formal dining room is informal, with a beachy feel and a large bay window to outside.

The gourmet kitchen has a family room feel. A piece that looks like an antique armoire is actually the sub-zero refrigerator.

The Master Suite is upstairs.

"Really nice high ceilings, there's a music system throughout the house," Gonzalez said

The custom designed Waterworks master bathroom is bright and open. Uncovered French doors lead outside.

Downstairs and outside, a separate guest house or library with a full bath.

The historic 1938 house was meticulously restored in 2006.

It's unique, historic and for sale with an asking price of $12.9 million.
