Absentee Ballot Deadline Nears For Special Election

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - The Miami-Dade County Special Election is scheduled for next Tuesday, but the deadline to get absentee ballots is a little more than 24 hours away.

The deadline to request an absentee ballot is 5 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30. All absentee ballots must be returned by mail or in person to one of the following two places by November 5th at 7 p.m.

The special election asks voters to decide on bonds to fund modernization and improvement of the Jackson Health System along with voters in the cities of Hialeah, Homestead, Miami, and Miami Beach deciding municipal races and questions.

According to the Miami-Dade Elections Department, more than 56,000 absentee ballots have been requested and more than 7,800 voters have early voted. Early voting will end on Sunday.
