New Leading Man Cast For "50 Shades Of Grey"

LOS ANGELES (CBSMiami) -- Charlie Hunnam is out and Irish actor Jamie Dornan is in as Christian Grey, in the film adaptation of "Fifty Shades of Grey."

Several websites, including The Hollywood Reporter, Variety and People, are reporting that Dornan has been cast as the male lead of the hotly anticipated movie.

Focus Features, the film's distributor, did not immediately comment on the reports.

So, who is Dornan? The 31-year-old actor has done his fair share of modeling, showing off his toned body for the likes of Calvin Klein, Christian Dior and Armani. He stars in the U.K. series "The Fall" and portrayed the Huntsman in ABC's "Once Upon a Time." He also starred in Sofia Coppola's "Marie Antoinette" and dated actress Keira Knightley for about two years.

Dakota Johnson will co-star as Anastasia Steele in the film to be directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson. The movie version of E L James' steamy bestseller will hit the big screen on Aug. 1, 2014. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dornan is firming up negotiations for the film, which is expected to begin production in November.

Hunnam bowed out of the role, citing scheduling conflicts.
