El Nuevo Herald Appoints New Executive Editor

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – El Nuevo Herald, CBS4's news partner, has a new executive editor.

Myriam Marquez, the editorial page editor of the Miami Herald, will replace Manny Garcia, a veteran South Florida journalist who left the paper in September.

The announcement was made Wednesday by Miami Herald Media Company Publisher David Landsberg and the news, the Miami Herald reports, "was met with resounding applause by staff members."

"It's been an amazing day," Márquez told the paper. "The el Nuevo Herald team is outstanding. They're committed, they're passionate, they do all in their power to cover this community."

Marquez has led several award-winning projects since joining the Miami Herald in 2005.

Marquez was named one of the Top 100 Most Influential Hispanics in the nation by Hispanic Business.com.
