Two Dead, Two Injured In SW Dade Shooting
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Miami-Dade police returned to a remote rural southwest section of the county early Monday to continue their investigation of a Sunday evening shooting that left two people dead and two others injured.
It happened around 7:45 p.m. near Krome Avenue and SW 168th Street. While police did not release the conditions of those who were shot, they did say multiple people were taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds.
"Bam, bam. It's sad you know," said Cruz Parras. "Everybody is scared."
Chopper4 over the area spotted workers from the Medical Examiner's office removing two bodies from a shed like structure and loading them into a white van.
Police have identified one of the men who died as 67-year old Agustin Figueredo. They have not released the name of the second man, who they said was in his 80s.
The injured have been identified as 40-year old Rafael Garcia and 49-year old Angel River.
Jose Angel said he was shocked. He told CBS4's Gaby Fleischman that he heard his dogs barking Sunday night, but didn't know until Monday morning that four people had been shot.
Detectives say there is evidence of an illegal cockfighting ring operating in the rear of the property. There are dozens of roosters caged in a back shed, and police are looking into the possibility that there was a fight going on when shots were fired.
"This house, every time, it's too much noise, too much cars, too much people," said Parras.
As of Monday afternoon, no arrests had been made.
Police believe there were several people on the property who ran off when the gunfire erupted. They would like to talk with those individuals.
