MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Early voting begins Monday for Miami-Dade’s Special Election.

On the ballot, voters are being asked if they approve of funding for the modernization and improvement of the Jackson Health System through issuance of General Obligation Bonds. In addition, voters residing in the cities of Hialeah, Homestead, Miami, and Miami Beach will have the opportunity to vote on their municipal races and questions.

Anyone who opts to vote early must bring a current and valid identification that contains their name and photograph and signature. Acceptable forms of identification include:

      • Florida Driver’s License
      • Florida identification card issued by the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles
      • United States Passport
      • Debit or credit card
      • Military identification
      • Student identification
      • Retirement center identification
      • Public assistance identification
      • Neighborhood Association identification

In addition to Early Voting, registered voters can cast their ballot by absentee or go to the polls on Election Day, Tuesday, November 5th.

Voters who wish to participate in this election via absentee ballot have until 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30th, to submit their request online, by email or by telephone.

Completed absentee ballots must be received by the county’s election department by Tuesday, November 5th, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. to be accepted as valid.

Voters are reminded to sign inside the red box on the outside of the absentee ballot envelope before returning it. Also, postage is no longer necessary.
