Florida Teen Stands Before Church To Plea For Forever Home

TAMPA (CBSMiami) - Davion, a 15-year-old boy foster boy with no set home, no family, decided to take his plea for adoption inside a Florida church.

Davion, dressed in the one suit he owns, adorned with a borrowed tie, stood before the congregation of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church—bringing many church-goers to tears.

"I just said I know God hasn't given up and I'm not either," said Davion.

More than anything, Davion wants what many teens actually take for granted—a family to call his own.

"Just like to love me forever. I just want people to love me for who I am just to grab me and keep me in their house and just to love me no matter what," said Davion.

The Pastor, Rev. Brian Brown, said that the response to Davion's plea was overwhelming.

"So many responses from persons who've never seen his face, never had an encounter him but yet heard their story and had the heart plucked to want to get involved. I'm just overwhelmed,".

Leigh Anne Tuohy who's adoption of teen Michael Oher, now an NFL player, was the inspiration of the movie "The Blindside" compared Davion's story to her own adoption success story.

"Look at our situation, Micahel has the same characteristics and we turned our car around. That random act changed his life," said Touhy.

Davion's request for a forever family eventually went viral with thousands of likes on Facebook as well as Tweets.

The website, Eckerd.org that has the information about adopting Davion states, "Due to the overwhelming response, please be patient as we sort through the enormous volume of calls, emails and letters that have poured in from around the world. We promise that we will response to each and every request."

Davion has received a lot of inquiries, a statement was issued by Eckerd.
