Miami Beach Fifth Best Place To Live In The Nation

MIAMI BEACH (CBSMiami) – If you could choose to live in any city in the United States, would Miami Beach be among the top five on your list of 100? It should be, according to Livability.com, and Ft. Lauderdale should rank at 24.

From colorful politics, to constant flooding issues, and not to mention the hefty traffic, residents of South Florida know the trials and tribulations of the City of Miami Beach, but according to the Livability.com, all of those issues are trumped by the city's great amenities, culture, architecture, shopping, cuisine and more.

Livability's "Top 100 Best Places to Live" list is, according to the site, "part art and part science." They partnered with the research team at Richard Florida's Martin Prosperity Institute at the University of Toronto's Rotman School of management to come up with their list.

The cities were measured across eight important aspects of livability, according to the site, which are: Amenities, Demographics, Economy, Education, Health Care, Housing, Infrastructure, Social and Civic Capital.

Miami Beach's highest scores, according to the list, were in amenities, because the city "packs a lot of amenities into a tiny stretch of oceanfront...," healthcare, and infrastructure.

Ft. Lauderdale's rankings were highest in education, followed by healthcare, and then infrastructure. The city's description as to why it's on the top 25 asks, "how many cities can brag about having both a riverfront and an ocean?"
