MIAMI GARDENS (CBSMiami/AP) — Tens of thousands of people are expected to join the revelry at South Florida’s annual carnival.

The Miami Broward One Carnival parade and performances Sunday at Sun Life Stadium are the culmination of a week’s long celebration of Caribbean culture.

The parade will feature more than 20 masquerade bands from throughout the Caribbean and South America. The performers include soca and chutney musicians Raymond Ramnarine, Sir Oungku, Ravi B, Shal Marshall and Superblue, an international soca star and the reigning 2013 Soca Monarch.

The chairwoman of the carnival’s host committee tells CBS4 news partner, The Miami Herald, that the carnival’s popularity has influenced other Caribbean programming at the stadium, such as recent soccer matches featuring Haiti and Trinidad and Tobago.

The carnival parade has drawn more than 50,000 people in past years.
