Steering You Right: Palmetto Expressway Construction

MIAMI (CBS4) - It seems where ever you look in South Florida, there are construction crews working on our roadways.

Each week we'll be steering you right, helping you stay up to date on the detours and delays from all the construction projects throughout Broward and Miami-Dade counties.

Palmetto Expressway drivers will have to wait a bit longer for rush hour relief. The new northbound exit ramp to NW 25th Street is still closed.

The opening of the ramp was originally scheduled for last Sunday but it's been postponed until further notice. Recent rains are to blame for the delay.

When the ramp finally does open, drivers will have to exit the Palmetto about half a mile earlier than the current NW 25th Street ramp.

"Northwest drivers that want to exit at northwest 25th street once they're in the area of 836, they are passing underneath the 836, they should already be on the right hand lane so they can go ahead and take the new exit," said Oscar Gonzalez from the Florida Department of Transportation.

Watch out for the sign. But if you pass the new exit by accident, you can get off on NW 36th Street instead.

There's also a big closure scheduled for Wednesday. The eastbound SR 836 ramp to NW 17th Avenue will be closed for the removal of a toll plaza. The ramp will close every night Wednesday until Monday from 11 p.m. until 5:30 am. Drivers will have to exit at NW 27th Avenue instead.

In Broward County, two westbound lanes on I-595 between US 441 and Davie Road will be closed nightly from 11:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Sunday.
