Weston Man Killed In Roll Over Crash On US 27

SOUTHWEST RANCHES (CBSMiami) – A Weston man died after his truck rolled over on U.S. 27 near Griffin Road.

It happened Friday night around 10:30 p.m.

Broward Sheriff's deputies on their way to a call came upon 69-year old Raul Lopez's gold Toyota pick up truck in a ditch off the northbound lanes in the 7000 block of U.S. 27.

The sheriff's office said Lopez had spoken to his family just before the accident as he was heading home from work. He was travelling northbound when, for reasons unknown, his vehicle went into the ditch and rolled over. Lopez was thrown from the truck and died on the scene.

This same area was the site of deadly wreck last weekend.

On Saturday, around 11:45 p.m., 28-year old Joseph Livolsi was killed when veered off the northbound lanes of U.S. 27 and into a canal near Griffin Road.

Investigators have determined the vehicle first veered off the roadway into the east median. Sheriff's investigators said Livolsi apparently overcorrected, causing the car to veer back onto the roadway, over a guard rail, through bushes and into a canal on the west side of the highway.

Arriving fighters went into the water, broke a window and pulled Livolsi out of the vehicle. He was taken to the Cleveland Clinic Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Both crashes happened near the intersection where Maritza Medina lost her life last month.

Medina, 48, was killed on September 18 when Antonio Feliu, who was trying to escape from police after killed a woman and her daughter, slammed into her car on US 27. During a stand off with police, Feliu took his own life.
